How to Solve

Note: Microsoft Outlook 2016 is not compatible with Sage 50 US Edition 2016 or earlier. Outlook 2016 32-bit version is compatible with Sage 50US version 2017 and higher.

Section I: Run both Sage and the email program as Administrator

Step-1: Shut both Sage and the email program (Outlook or other).

Step-2: Right-click Sage 50 icon, and then select Properties.

Step-3: Choose Compatibility Tab, and then select Change settings for all users button.

Step-4: Select Run this program as Administrator box, click Apply, and then click OK.

Step-5: Repeat Steps 2-4 for your email program icon.

Step-6: Open Sage and the email program.

Step-7: Confirm you are now able to email without issue/error.

Step-8: If not, proceed to the next section.

Note: In Microsoft Windows 10, Outlook or Sage may not have a Compatibility Tab in the Properties window.  If this is the case, click Advanced button in the Shortcut Tab, select Run as Administrator box, and then click OK.

Section II: Remove the Email Writer and run Repair on Sage

Step-1: Shut Down Sage.

Step-2: Press WINDOWS+ R keys, type Control, and then click OK.

Step-3: Select Devices and Printers.

Step-4: Right-click Sage 50 E-mail Writer v3, and then choose Remove Device.

Step-5: Also eliminate any other Peachtree E-mail Writer or Sage E-mail Writer.

Step-6: Select any accessible printer, and then choose Print server properties.

Step-7: Select Drivers tab, Amyuni Document Converter 450, and then click Remove.

Step-8: Select Remove driver and driver package, and then click OK.

Step-9: Go back to Print Server Properties.

Step-10: Select Drivers tab, Amyuni Document Converter 300 or 500 (if present).

Step-11: Select Remove driver and driver package, and then click OK.

Step-12:  Run Repair for Sage; refer to Article ID 10602: “How to run Repair” in Related resources.

Step-13: Press WINDOWS+R keys, type Control, and then click OK.

Step-14: Select Devices and Printers.

Step-15: Right-click Sage 50 E-mail Writer v3, and then select Printer properties.

Step-16: Select Ports tab, and then click Add Port button.

Step-17: Select Local Port, and then click New Port button.

Step-18: Enter PDF1 as the port name, and then click OK.

Step-19: Choose Advanced tab.

Step-20: Select Enable advanced printing features box, and then click Apply.

Step-21: Select Print directly to the printer box, click Apply, and then Close.

Step-22: Reboot your computer.

Section III: If using Sage 50 Version 2013 or earlier

Step-1: Download the Amyuni Document Converter 450 driver from the Microsoft Catalog.

Step-2: Extract the downloaded files to a folder on the local hard drive.

Step-3: Press WINDOWS+R keys, type Control, and then click OK.

Step-4: Choose Devices and Printers.

Step-5: Select Add a printer, and then select The printer that I want isn’t listed.

Step-6: On the Find a printer by other options screen select, Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, and then click Next.

Step-7: Select Create a new port and set the Type of port to Local Port, and then click Next.

Step-8: Enter PDF1 for the new port name, and then click OK.

Step-9: On the Install the printer driver screen, select Have Disk, and browse to the extracted files from the Microsoft Catalog.

Step-10: Select amyuni.inf file, and then click OK.

Step-11: Install the printer driver Amyuni Document Converter 450, and then click Next.

Step-12: Name the new Printer Amyuni 450, and then click Next.

Step-13: Select Do not share, and then click Next.

Step-14: Clear Set as default printer box, and then click Finish.

Step-15: Browse to Devices and Printers, right-click Sage 50 E-mail Writer, and then select Printer Properties.

Step-16: Click Advanced tab, and then select Amyuni Document Converter 450 driver.

Step-17: Open Sage and attempt to e-mail any document. The program will return error “Printer not activated -41.” This ensures the Amyuni Document Converter 450 driver is active.

Step-18: Open Devices and Printers, right-click Sage 50 E-mail Writer, and then select Printer Properties.

Step-19: Select Advanced tab, change the driver back to Amyuni Document Converter 300.

Step-20: Reboot your computer.

Step-21: Verify you can email.

Section IV. Using Sage 50 2014 or later versions (best solution for Windows 10)

Step-1: Download the Amyuni Document Converter 500 driver from the Microsoft Catalog.

Step-2: Follow steps in Section III beginning with Step 2, selecting the Amyuni 500 instead of 450.

Section V: Damaged PTR files in Forms folder

Step-1: Browse to your data path; refer to Article ID 10165: “How to find data path and program path”  in Related resources for assistance.

Step-2:  Double-click Forms folder.

Step-3: Remove all files with the extension .PTR.

Section VI: Damaged Windows profile

Step-1:  Create a new Windows user profile on the computer.

Step-2: Set up the email account under the new user profile.

Step-3:  Verify you can email under the new profile.
